Version 7.4.1 of the Windows toolkit released
If you’re putting large numbers of PDF documents through the toolkit then you might be very interested in taking a closer look at this version; image-only PDF documents now process at around 3X the speed of previous versions and with higher accuracy. Developers wanting to get hold of the update to the PDF Extension will notice that it’s now included in a new look download for the barcode SDK with access to the functionality controlled through a license key. A license key is also required for normal operation of the toolkit, so an upgrade will require a minor modification to an application, but should be worth it if performance is an issue. The new look installer has a very low impact on a target system – installing everything under a single folder, with nothing going into the registry or windows system folders. All DLL files except for SoftekBarcodeLib2.dll have been compiled to remove dependencies on MFC and Microsoft Redistribution Packages – and we’ve introduced our own redistributable installers to simplify installation on production systems. A new .net interface is now available (SoftekBarcodeLib3.dll) that wraps around the main win32 DLL and loads TIF and JPG documents at a much higher speed than the older component; the API for the 2 components is almost identical so there should be little work involved to convert from one to the other.
This version also includes improvements to the Code 39, Code 128, GS1-Databar and Datamatrix modules, with the introduction of support for Code 93 linear barcodes. Please contact sales@bardecode.com if you would like to upgrade to or evaluate this version.
